What’s The Perfect Gin Accompaniment?
We’re proud to offer a variety of premium gins locally-made in Norfolk. After all, variety is the spice of life. Each gin is carefully hand-crafted by our distiller with their own subtle nuances and flavours that can be amplified and enjoyed when accompanied by different tonics, fizzes and fruits.
Whether you’re a seasoned gin drinker, or just dipping your toe into the fizzy tonic waters, we’re here to educate you on the best accompaniment for each of our handcrafted gin flavours.
Strawberry & Black Pepper Gin
Nothing screams England, or indeed, Norfolk, quite like strawberries. Norfolk produces some of the finest strawberries in Britain. With the season starting early this year due to warm weather, there’s been more time for picking the delicious berries that make their way into our strawberry and black pepper bottles.
Over 100 kilos of fresh strawberries are infused for up to 72 in each distillation, combining fresh strawberries with black pepper balances the sweet aroma of the berries with warming black pepper and juniper spice when sipped. Unlike other berry-infused gins on the market, our Strawberry and Black Pepper Gin is designed and distilled to be a flavoured gin that doesn’t compromise on the core gin flavour.
The sweet notes evolve when combined with tonic to finish on a delicate lemon flavour. When mixed with tonic, all the fresh strawberry notes are released creating a fruity, enjoyable gin. However, to move away from the traditional tonic pairing, our favourite combination is to have it as an amazing topper in a glass of prosecco.
London Dry Gin
Our London Dry Gin is our staple offering. It’s a classic and its individual flavour cannot be denied being one of the first gins in the UK to use the South American tonka bean which gives the gin a wonderful velvet mouthfeel. This gin reminds us of summer, sipping on a refreshing glass to cool down on a hot day.
Flavours of dry juniper run throughout, offering gently spiced sweetness. This sweetness is complemented by subtle cardamom and coriander spices and ensures our London Dry Gin is as deliciously smooth neat with ice, as it is mixed in a classic G&T.
Alongside the staple flavours of juniper, cardamom and coriander, a gentle zesty flavour of marmalade lingers on the tongue, followed by a cinnamon warmth. Finally, our core botanical and star of the show, the tonka bean provides a soft, sweet finish, producing an easy drinking, smooth and citrusy London Dry Gin.
Our perfect accompaniment is tonic and cubes of ice with garnishes of orange peel.
Old Tom Gin
Nothing beats an alfresco dinner on a warm summer evening, and our Old Tom Gin is the perfect partner for your outdoor dining experiences as you sit back and bask in the late evening sun, with the scent of wildflowers and freshly cut grass in the air.
With nuanced flavours of exotic fruit, including smooth mango softness at its core and fresh grapefruit peel, our Old Tom Gin is a customer favourite. For those who aren’t fully converted gin drinkers yet, Bullards Old Tom Gin offers a great introduction to the spirit, as it’s a sweeter and rounder flavour than more traditional, botanical gins.
As well as fruity flavours, elements of pink pepper add a spicy complexity, while Norfolk honey and sweet vanilla ensure a rich mouthfeel, with vanilla sweetness lingering long after the finish. As a Norfolk-based family brand, Norfolk honey is an ingredient we’re proud to use. Both as an homage to our heritage as a Norfolk distillery, and for the sweet subtlety of its flavour.
For an after-dinner tipple, this subtly dry, sweet and warming gin, once mixed, offers flavours of lemon, grapefruit and honey that truly shine through. Try with bitters, orange peel and elderflower liqueur topped with Champagne for a truly indulgent drink.
